Applications open for Early Career Researcher Support: Social Justice Special Issue of JIME
Open education and social justice is a relatively new area of research. We are keen to ensure a spread of authors for this Special Issue of the Journal of Interactive Media in Education (JIME) ranging from early career to established researchers. We are keen to enable a diversity of voices across core and peripheries. The focus of the Special Issue is, after all, of importance to education across the world.
We are also committed to open access where neither reader nor writer pays for access or participation.
Thanks to a grant being currently signed with the Hewlett Foundation, we are able to offer several support options for early career researchers to participate in the special edition. This will:
- pay for article processing charges for 6 more papers for the special issue (JIME kindly covers the first articles)
- cover 15 hours of mentoring for 6 authors’ writing support during the process of preparing research for publication
- enable 2 authors from the special edition to present their work at a symposium at the OER20 Conference in Coventry UK. Reasonable travel & conference expenses covered. These will be aimed at those who would find it difficult to cover such costs.

The decision regarding the OER20 conference will be made at a later stage.
